Community Archives

WHAT ARE COMMUNITY ARCHIVES?

Many community based groups, from local history societies to cultural societies will build up their own collections of photographs, letters and documents. Unless this material is stored or archived, it can disappear and a valuable part of a community’s history can be lost forever. Modern technology and the experience of the Glamorgan Record Office and professional heritage specialists are making it possible for people to examine ways that can create their own archives to make sure that important material isn’t lost in this way.

If you have an interest in the life of your community in the past or present, why not contact us and we might be able to help you.
